The name “Alera” comes from the Latin word alere, meaning “to nourish” or “sustain.” Our mission is to sustain comfort—for guests, managers, and everyone who steps into an Alera Comfort room. That commitment to lasting comfort and efficiency is why we’re called Alera Comfort.
How does Alera detect occupancy?

Unlike other smart thermostats that rely on motion sensors—which can shut off the HVAC system while guests are still in the room—Alera uses guest check-in and check-out schedules to determine when a room should be conditioned. This ensures the HVAC runs only when needed, reducing energy use without sacrificing comfort or frustrating guests.
